About The Podcast
Build For Tomorrow, Not For Yesterday
This is a show about the forces that shape us, and how we can shape the future. And we do it by looking at the surprising, funny, odd, and sometimes infuriating stories from our past, which can help us understand our world now. Like, why do we hate being told what to do? How did forks help us develop a sense of individualism? What can we learn about out changing culture today, by looking at the national moral freak-out America had about teddy bears in 1907?
This show used to be called Pessimists Archive, but the name sounded (duh) pessimistic — and we’re not! History is fun and weird, but can also make you very optimistic about the future.
